Kojima: “I want to make something that will have a big enough impact to become a series”.
Metal Gear Solid series creator Hideo Kojima stated in an interview with GameSpot during the 2016 D.I.C.E. Summit event that he wants his new game to “have a big enough impact to become a series.” According to Kojima, this impact could lead to “something outside of games, such as anime, manga, figures; something that is rich enough to expand.”
Kojima is currently developing his new project at his newly formed Kojima Productions, in collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 platform, but it was briefly listed in December that the game would also come to PC afterward.
Kojima was inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences’ Hall of Fame at the 19th D.I.C.E Awards on Thursday. Kojima and Konami‘s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain game also won Adventure Game of the Year at the awards.
Kojima hosted a joint presentation with director Guillermo del Toro during the 2016 D.I.C.E. Summit. Kojima has previously expressed an interest in working with del Toro on a game, film, or anime. Kojima and del Toro were originally planning to work together on Konami‘s Silent Hills title. They released the “P.T.” playable teaser before Konami cancelled the project.
